Our workshops varies greatly. We garden and farm vegetables, milk, fruit, seeds and meat. At our craft workshops we work with a range of materials from metal, wood, paper, fabric and wax. We also work in different food processing workplaces involved in jam and juice making, bread baking and cheese making. In our retail areas we are involving in serving customer, till operation cooking and food deliveries. And there is always the work to do in our Camphill homes, including cooking, cleaning, gardening … the list is endless. All these activities and areas of work share the same level of importance in our communities; each one is real and meaningful. It is our strong belief that every individual needs the opportunity to engage in meaningful work and to see the result of his or her efforts formed in a product or service that is wanted and needed by someone else. We believe that the benefits from participating in work are as great as any therapy available. Work in our workshops and retail outlets provides avenues for training and develops social skills allowing individuals to become truly global citizens.
All our workshops offer real work tasks, nothing is tokenistic, and all have an element of production focus making work opportunities very much relevant to the world of work. All staff are highly trained and understand that everyone works at their own pace and skill level.
